1. What we store
We store only what the app needs to work: your email address, an encrypted password verifier (never the password itself), and the writing content you create — novels, chapters, research papers, sources, notes, outline cards and progress statistics. We also record a randomly generated device identifier and browser description so we can show you the devices signed in to your account.
2. How it is protected
All traffic uses TLS. Data is encrypted at rest on managed Postgres infrastructure. Row-level security policies mean every query is scoped to your own user id — no other account can read your rows, even in the event of an application bug. Two-factor authentication (TOTP) is available and recommended. Sessions can be revoked from the Security page at any time.
3. Offline copies
To let you keep writing without a connection, drafts are cached in your browser’s local storage and synced when you reconnect. Those local copies live on your device only; signing out or clearing site data removes them.
4. What we never do
We do not sell your data, we do not show third-party advertising, and we do not use your manuscripts to train machine-learning models. Grammar, style and spelling checks run entirely inside your browser — your prose is not sent anywhere for analysis.
5. Your control
You can export any chapter, manuscript or paper to PDF, Word, OpenDocument, Markdown or plain text at any time. Deleting a novel or paper deletes its chapters, sections, notes and revisions. Deleting your account removes all associated rows.
